Speakers 2009: Leo Tokar, MBA, MS

Leo Tokar is vice president, Marketing, Sales, and Business Development, for Kaiser Permanente’s Colorado Region, a position he has held since July 2005. He is responsible for managing the region’s commercial and government segments across sales & account management, development and financial management of insurance products and marketing, as well as oversight of the Colorado Springs market and new market development.

Tokar joined Kaiser Permanente in 1999 as the Colorado Region’s director of pricing and underwriting. In 2002, he assumed oversight responsibility for pricing and underwriting in Kaiser Permanente’s Colorado, Oregon, Washington, and Hawaii markets. In 2004, he also assumed leadership of the Colorado product development team.

Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente, Tokar was vice president, Underwriting and Actuarial Services, for Preferred Health Systems, a holding company that operated an HMO, life and health insurer, and several provider networks. He has served in various actuarial roles in state regulatory, indemnity, and managed care environments.

In the community, Tokar is actively involved with several organizations, including the Colorado Commission on Health Benefits, CoverColorado, Leadership Denver, and the South Metro Chamber of Commerce.

He earned his B.S. in economics from the University of Kansas and an executive M.B.A, and M.S. in marketing from the University of Colorado.
