Speakers 2008: James Mault, MD

Dr. James Mault is the director of New Products and Business Development for the Health Solutions Group at Microsoft Corporation. Dr. Mault has more than 25 years of experience as a senior executive in the medical device and pharmaceutical industry as well as in clinical medicine. He is board-certified in both general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery, having specialized in heart and lung transplantation, thoracic oncology and critical care. He is the author of more than 100 scientific articles, chapters and books in published medical literature and is the named inventor of dozens of issued and pending patents for a variety of medical devices and health information systems. Dr. Mault founded five successful medical device and health information technology companies, leading them to develop novel technologies, FDA approvals, and strategic partnerships with numerous Fortune 500 companies. Dr. Mault holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and a medical degree from the University of Michigan. He conducted his general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery residency training at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Mault maintains a Clinical Faculty position at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and is an active member of numerous medical and surgical societies, including the American College of Surgeons, The Society of Thoracic Surgeons, The American Heart Association, as well as the American Medical Association.
