Speakers 2008: Sheldon H. Smith, Esq

Sheldon H. Smith is a partner in Holme, Roberts & Owen LLP’s employee benefits group, advising clients on ERISA, executive compensation, fiduciary duties, health and welfare plans, and qualified retirement plans. Mr. Smith designs and assists clients with the implementation and operation of pension benefit plans and equity-based compensation plans, advises clients with regard to fiduciary duties, performs fiduciary duty compliance audits on employee benefit plans, represents clients before the IRS, Department of Labor and the PBGC, and, with over thirty years of litigation experience, defends clients in ERISA and benefits, tax and probate litigation. Mr. Smith represents public and private companies and governmental organizations, assisting them with benefit plan design, compliance and operational issues, and understanding and meeting fiduciary duties. Since 1980, Mr. Smith had been a member of either the adjunct or visiting faculties of the University of Denver College of Law. He received his undergraduate degree (B.A.) from Washington University in St. Louis and both of his law degrees (J.D. and LL.M. (taxation)) from the University of Denver.
